frigate collided with a Filipino flag carrier off the coast of Japan, causing some to be
injured. The USS Fitzgerald collided with the ACX Crystal
at 17:30 (GMT) in an area about 56 nautical miles southwest of Japan’s Yokosuka city. The Japanese Coast Guard arrived at the scene
and was evaluating the damage as well as the number of casualties. The USS Fitgerald is based in Yokosuka (south
of Tokyo), primarily in the Pacific and the Sea of ​​Japan. The ACX Crystal flagged the Philippines and
was owned by the NYK Line shipping company of Japan.
