Riverine Squadron 11 Shows Navy, Coast Guard Cooperation at RIMPAC 2014

WELCOME TO ALL HANDS UPDATE, I’M PETTY OFFICER
JONATHAN PANKAU. SAILORS AND COAST GUARDSMEN FROM COASTAL RIVERINE
SQUADRON 11 ARE PARTICIPATING IN THIS YEAR’S RIM OF THE PACIFIC, OR RIMPAC, EXERCISE. MEMBERS OF THE SQUADRON CONDUCTED SEVERAL
TRAINING EXERCISES, SUCH AS MANEUVERING DRILLS AND STRANDED BOATER SEARCH AND RESCUE. JOINT EXERCISES LIKE THESE HELP THE U.S. NAVY
AND COAST GUARD WORK TOGETHER MORE EFFECTIVELY. “THE NAVY LEVERAGES SOME OF THE COAST GUARD
EXPERTISE IN THE SEARCH AND RESCUE FIELDS AND SOME OF THE SMALLER BOAT OPERATIONS SO WE LEARN FROM THE NAVY AS WELL AND TAKE SOME OF THEIR EXPERTISE
BACK TO THE COAST GUARD. THIS HAS BEEN A REALLY GOOD IMMERSION INTO HOW THE COASTAL RIVERINE
UNIT WORKS IN THIS COMMUNITY AND WHAT THE CAPABILITIES ARE.” THE NAVY AND COAST GUARD EXCHANGED VALUABLE
TRAINING AND EXPERTISE IN SMALL BOAT AND PORT SECURITY OPERATIONS DURING THE EXERCISE.
