JR in a Minute the Whole Ship!

the JOIDES Resolution or JR was named
after Captain James Cook’s exploration ship of two centuries ago
the HMS Resolution. it is as long as six brontosauruses and as tall as twelve
giraffes. The JR weighs about 16,000 tons it can drill in ocean water over
five miles deep and then drill down into the sediments over a mile the JOIDES
Resolution is part of an international program that explores the history and
structure of the earth by looking at the sediment and rocks at the bottom of the
sea providing scientists all over the world a glimpse into Earth’s past
