How To Ship A Car Correctly

one, two, three, four! Rev up your engines! It’s time for the Scotty Kilmer Channel okay I’m done
fixing up the car that I got for my son, but now I’ve got to get the truck to him
I’m in Houston Texas he’s in Boston Massachusetts and I don’t
have the time to drive it up there and fly back and he’s got a job so he can’t
take time off, so it’s shipping time, now there’s many companies that ship
vehicles around the country, but it’s not that easy to pick the right one so I’m
going to show you how to do it the correct way today and all I have to say
is, good thing there’s an Internet and since I’m in Houston we’re going to
Google Houston car shippers check it out and up at pops but of course the first
ones are ads I generally stay away from the ads those are often more expensive
companies I go down directly to the actual places and here we have an actual
map of Houston I’m down near the middle so it shows ones that are really close,
so I can call them up and ask them questions, now of course you can do
everything online if you want but I personally like talking to real human
beings see what the setup is, see what kind of insurance they have, get a good feel of
what the company is like before I do business with them, and of course after
talking to people you want to do a little research on the internet, I found a
pretty good site for that, it’s called transport reviews.com they review all
the different companies, there’s a website it’s completely free you can
look up companies that you’re thinking about using and here’s one I checked out,
a guy gives it zero stars says beware of using this company, even though he
spelled company wrong, I’m guessing he spelled it wrong because he was really mad
they damaged the sons truck for $936 of body work and they haven’t even paid him
yet for the damage, so you can find if companies damage cars, don’t fix them,
don’t pick them up right on time, charge you more, you can research that all,
before you pick out a company, now after doing a bunch of research I decided to
check out this Brickell Auto transports people say they were fantastic and when
I called them up, I got in contact with the really nice Jamaican jazz musician,
by the name of Richard you don’t make much money in jazz so he’s making it
shipping in cars and he sold me on the company, I ended up paying them their
small managerial fee which is 150 bucks then the drivers coming to pick up the
vehicle and the vehicle is paid for at the other end my son will pay them the
$700 for the shipping fee when it arrives, which is the fair way to go, if a
company wants all the money up front be very leery anybody honest like myself,
customers come to me I fix their car when they’re done they pay me, they don’t
pay me before I fix the car and there it is, they come to pick it up and here come
the guys from Senate transportation to take it to Massachusetts, they load it up
and up it goes, up in the air it goes and now comes a moment of truth, did the
truck arrive in Boston great it, did well have fun with it, so
now you know how to ship a vehicle the right way,
and remember if you have any car questions just visit the Scotty Kilmer

  1. Hey Scotty, I have a 2003 Infiniti G35, recently I've been hearing a ticking noise from the engine when the AC is running, and yesterday it tried stalling on me. My dad spoke to a mechanic and said an IACV should fix it, what do you think?

  2. I'm about to buy a 1980 Plymouth arrow that has sat forever!!!! What should I do first to try and make it run?!?!

  3. hey Scotty I got a 2005 Dodge Ram hemi 5.7 engine I have a no crank no start problem going on. I change the starter the crankshaft sensor and also checked all the relays and fuses there's all good battery was good what do you suggest

  4. I bought a 2001 silverado 4.8 recently from another state. it was all fine no noises after the long drive home (3 hours) but 3 days later it started making a squeal when you accelerate between 10 and 55 mph. not when you rev it or when you let go of the gas pedal only when you accelerate. 1 day later off buying it I floored it to 50 (from 20 mph) BTW took it to a shop before I bought it only real thing it needed was a transmission flush. truck has 107k miles

  5. There are a lot of VERY Negative reviews of the reviews as being fake on the transportation reviews. com website. It's revenue comes for car transport companies the "sponsor" or buy ads and bad reviews are slanderd by the offending Companies. Sorry Scotty I have to give you a thumbs down on this one but your other stuff is great and I appreciate it!

  6. Hey! Whats up Scotty! I was wonder if It is possible to get a push button start removed and have a regular key start cause i HATE those push buton starts!! Thx.

  7. Hey Scotty, I have a 05 Chevy Silverado 2500hd and wanting to know why my steering wheel shaft radials when I drive over bumps and damaged road, when I turn over bumps and damaged roads it still does the same?

  8. 08 altima has worn out passenger side motor mount. any advice? should I Chang all of them or just the one. do you think I should pay or do it myself? thanks scotty

  9. Some good tips there Scotty abut reviewing websites. Always worth checking before committing yourself.
    Nice vid.

  10. Very informative video. But wouldn't it be more cost effective to just have his truck serviced in the area where your son lives in?

  11. Why you think it's the right way to pay 150 $ to a broker in front ? You have check the broker rating but your car will be transported buy a different company. Next time talk with the driver, ask for they contact number and work direct with a transpor company. I'm a small car hauling company , and yes we all have insurance .

  12. 0:46 I literally laughed my ass off for a good 30 seconds. Scotty is the man yo. He didn't reshoot that scene, didn't flinch when the shit fell. What an OG. I love this guy.

  13. You think shipping a 2016 Scion FRS from Oregon to Florida will be okay? I haven't found any companies that I'm 100% trusting of yet and I'm nervous to ship my car because it's pretty brand new only 3k miles on it and I got it for a good deal.

  14. Transport is the way to go for long distances. Shipped a car from Chi to CA for @ $700.  To drive the 2000 miles, gas alone would have been at least $300. And who knows what troubles a driver can run into?

  15. Scotty, thanks for your videos. Question – have you ever shipped a car over seas? If so how and who would you recommend? Thanks again!

  16. Sorry Scotty, I like your video but there are a few issues. Transport Reviews.com is full of fake reviews and paid reviews. Googling shipping companies in your area is great but many of them claim to be shippers when they are really just brokers. People seem to like to shop for the cheapest price without comparing the differences between companies. I would suggest checking several review resources just to ensure you avoid a nightmare

  17. Lol at Jamaican jazz musician. Jamaicans all over. Scotty, you should visit Jamaica and let them know to not buy BMWs, Benz etc. I have lost track of the amount of times people tell me they regret buying one. My office boss in Kingston has one and he is pulling his hair out and how costly it is to maintain.

  19. I'm dealing with this right now. Paid my $100 deposit. Car was picked up and is sitting in a lot somewhere and I don't know where and no contact from the broker.

Then the ramp slips, and the truck narrowly avoids severe damage by pure luck.

And that's when the owner of the best company you could find is doing it? This just makes me even more afraid to have a car shipped.

  21. If you need a vehicle transported call me for a free quote. Thanks! Coast2CoastTransport.com

  22. I live in Houston Texas and there are no good deals for Mustang GTs or Camaro SSs here. I often search nationwide on autotrader and find higher trim Mustangs with lower miles and cheaper prices in different states and wonder if its cheaper to buy out of state and ship here? Anybody here ever do that to get a good deal on a V8 Muscle Car?

  23. Bottle of Water & a Big Bucket + Sandwich . I Alway's Ship My-self First Class ! Hint & Tip / Alway's use Un-Marked Container or Box to Prevent Theft. Dou-Not 4git Air-Holes & This Side UP Sticker's ? YYZ,Rock-Crushi'n" Rat-man lol

  24. Most of those shippers online are actually national brokers who hire local towing companies to do the actual transport. I recently contacted one online and paid them $100 up front, just like Kilmer paid a "managerial fee." But a local towing company actually delivered the car for a final payment in cash to the driver. Sometimes you can avoid the managerial (actually broker's fee) by finding a towing company yourself. BTW, make sure the transport is on a flat-bed at least.

  25. A Scott I bought a BMW from Nebraska I need it delivered to
New Jersey how much would it cost me and what company u would recommend from there thanks.

  26. I've never shipped a car before, but I have shipped my pants……
    Very embarrassing.

I clicked on this video solely to write that comment……I have no life.

  27. Only question I have is I live in an apartment complex and conveniently live in the farthest building to the entrance what would be my best move
