Frantic search and rescue after ‘plane crash’ off coast of Anglesey

 Police and the Coastguard are involved in a frantic search and rescue mission after a plane went down off a UK island  Lifeboats are also involved in the operation after a light aircraft ‘disappeared from radar contact’ and is believed to have crashed off Puffin Island, Anglesey, North Wales  A spokesperson for the Coastguard told Mirror Online: “HM Coastguard is currently co-ordinating a search and rescue in the Puffin Island area of North Wales following a report at 12 47pm today that an aircraft had disappeared from radar contact.  “The search and rescue helicopter from Caernarfon has been sent as well as Coastguard Rescue Teams from Penmon and Bangor and a Senior Coastguard Operations Officer  “The RNLI lifeboats from Beaumaris, Moelfre and Llandudno and North Wales Police have been sent ”  Police were called at 12.59pm to reports of a “possible crash”.  North Wales Live reports it is believed to involve a light aircraft which is most likely privately owned  A picture from the scene shows a large-scale police presence at the waterfront.  Police said: “We received a call at 12 59pm today (Monday) reporting a possible crash involving a light aircraft in the Penmon area Officers are currently assisting HM Coastguard and our enquiries are ongoing.”  North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were not involved in the efforts to locate the aircraft  The Welsh Ambulance Service said they have not yet been called out the assist at the scene  The coastguard has said that it has not yet been confirmed how many people were on board the aircraft before it vanished  North Wales Police have released a photo of the Coastguard helicopter hovering over the water off the coast of Anglesey  An RNLI spokesman said the aircraft was last seen two miles north east of Penmon  The charity launched two lifeboats from Anglesey.  An RNLI spokesman said: “The volunteer crews are searching an area around Penmon and are joined by Coastguard teams from Penmon and Bangor and a Coastguard helicopter ”  We’ll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story   Please check back regularly for updates on this developing story here at  Mirror .   For the latest news and breaking news visit .  Get all the big headlines, pictures, analysis, opinion and video on the stories that matter to you   Follow us on Twitter  @DailyMirror – the official Daily Mirror & Mirror Online Twitter account – real news in real time   We’re also on Facebook /dailymirror – your must-see news, features, videos and pictures throughout the day from the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and Mirror Online
